What it's for

Shopify accepts product images up to 20 megapixels, 4472×4472 pixels and 20 MB per file. Send anything bigger and Shopify rejects the upload outright — so you have to sort it out before you upload. And that's where a full photo editor is overkill: you don't need to retouch anything, you just need the file to fit Shopify's requirements, because Shopify handles all the display sizing and serves the right size to your customers' browsers automatically.

This tool is that one job in seconds. Drop the image, it scales it down cleanly and re-encodes it under the size cap, and downloads a file that will upload first time — no uploading and re-downloading your original through something like Canva or Photoshop just to change the dimensions.

  • PNG and WebP stay PNG and WebP; anything else is encoded as JPEG at 92% quality.
  • Files already within the limits pass through untouched.
  • The download is named filename-maxxed.ext so you can tell it apart from the original.
  • Need a square crop instead? Use the Shopify Square Cropper.

Why it's safe to use

There's no server on the other end. The image is read, resized and encoded entirely by your browser — nothing is uploaded, stored or logged anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone.
